Decades ago the technique of “Fire and Brimstone” preaching was very popular. I fear that we as the human race have lost our fear of a holy God. We want to think that He is a lovable teddy bear waiting to give us our every needs . . . regardless. That He would never allow bad things to happen . . . that’s the devil’s job, but I think that we have lost a reverent fear of the wrath of a holy God. God truly is a God of love, in that He has righteous and holy indignation. How do we explain the scripture that references that we are to work out our salvation with fear and trembling (Philippians 2:13)? What should we fear and why should we be trembling . . . if He truly is a God of love?
